Voices of Spirit - 11th Choir Festival

On 29 May 2025 at 17:00, the 11th International Choir Festival Voices of Spirit will open with a festive concert in the Stefaniensaal at Congress Graz. Fifteen choirs from Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Iceland and Greece will each present two selected pieces, offering a diverse insight into European choral music.

This opening concert offers a unique opportunity to experience the cultural diversity and different tonal colours of European choral music in one evening. Each choir brings its own musical tradition and interpretation, resulting in a multi-faceted programme that includes both traditional and contemporary works.

The Voices of Spirit International Choir Festival has established itself as an important platform for choirs and promotes intercultural exchange and musical development. The opening concert on 29 May 2025 promises to be an inspiring prelude to a festival week full of musical highlights.

The internationally acclaimed British vocal ensemble VOCES8 will give an exclusive gala concert in the Stefaniensaal of Congress Graz on 29 May 2025 at 20:00. This concert is a highlight of the 11th International Choir Festival Voices of Spirit, which will take place in Graz from 28 May to 1 June 2025. VOCES8, known for its stylistic versatility and flawless sound aesthetics, presents a repertoire ranging from Renaissance music to jazz and contemporary compositions. Their performances are characterised by technical brilliance and emotional depth, delighting audiences worldwide.

The ensemble has released numerous albums, including “Nightfall”, released in 2024, which was praised by critics for its outstanding musicality. This summer, VOCES8 celebrates its 20th anniversary with the “TWENTY” project, which includes new recordings and film productions.

In 2025, VOCES8 celebrates its 20th anniversary and returns once again to Graz, where the ensemble has built up a loyal fan base through previous performances, particularly at the Styriarte. The gala concert offers the audience the opportunity to experience the extraordinary musical range and harmonious ensemble sound of VOCES8 live. In addition to the concert, the eight singers will be involved in workshops and coaching sessions during the festival to share their knowledge and passion for music with participating choirs, ensembles and individual singers.
