Historic ambience meets modern facilities. Or as we say: Still making history. The Congress is suitable for just about any event. For symposia, exhibitions, balls, concerts and ... congresses, of course.

Your vision, our space

Graz is one of the top 100 congress cities in the world. This is not least due to Congress Graz, an event venue with a perfect city centre location and just as good facilities. Up to 2,300 guests can be accommodated here in 19 rooms ranging in size from 44 to 640 square metres. For smaller meetings, large conferences and everything in between.

Medical professionals and technicians, for example, but also artists from different genres meet in the Congress. The Stefaniensaal, a historic showpiece with excellent acoustics, is a place of music where soloist and orchestral concerts still take place regularly today.

Royal flair

Incidentally, it takes its name from Princess Stephanie, who was a guest at the opening in 1885 together with Crown Prince Rudolf. A lot has happened since then. The Congress has been repeatedly rebuilt and modernised until it became what it is today: a superlative event venue with a magnificent design.

The 19 rooms of different sizes at Congress Graz make it possible to hold events of different sizes and types. From symposia to exhibitions, from galas to balls or concerts, the rooms can be utilised. A total area of 2,900 m² is available, the largest room being the Stefaniensaal, which with its unique concert acoustics is a popular venue for musical performances of all kinds. There are also 6 artists’ dressing rooms (3 orchestra dressing rooms with 44 – 50 m², 2 soloists’ dressing rooms with approx. 20 m² each and 1 conductor’s dressing room with approx. 40 m²) available for use.

History

Which event venue in Graz can claim to have hosted an imperial heir to the throne and his wife? Congress Graz can. When the Stefaniensaal was opened around 120 years ago, the heir to the throne was present and was already moved by the amazing acoustics, which have touched thousands of guests since.

From concert
to ball

The Stefaniensaal is still a place of music today, as soloist and orchestral concerts are regularly held here. But there is also plenty of dancing – sometimes shrill, sometimes hearty – as Congress Graz is the venue for many a highlight of the Graz ball season, such as the Oberlandlerball or the Tuntenball.

In addition to entertainment, the 19 rooms of Congress Graz are often used for real brainwork. The density of congress days per year is high, all subject areas are represented and the international audience is impressed by the ambience of the magnificent premises in the heart of Graz’s old town.

ROOM ACOUSTICS IN THE STEFANIENSAAL

Excellent acoustics in the Stefaniensaal

In May 2021, TU Graz carried out a laboratory exercise for room acoustics in the Stefaniensaal.
The results confirm the hall’s reputation: the Stefaniensaal is a wonderful place to enjoy listening.

An extract of the conclusion in the laboratory protocol:
“The individual overall results indicate without doubt that this hall is ideally suited for orchestral and chamber music performances. In terms of its construction and acoustic behaviour, it is quite similar to the Great Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, which is considered one of the best concert halls in the world.”
