Definition and Endowment
The Congress Award Graz honors organisers from the areas science, research, economy and the NPO-area, which reached local, national and international audiences as ambassodors of the city.
The positioning of the city Graz as economy, research and science location is strongly related with the congress and convention history. The Congress Award shows the appreciation of Graz towards organisers whose events spread the word about the city.
Initiators of the Congress Award are the city Graz and the companies MCG as well as Graz Tourism and City Marketing. The prize was endowed on the base of a communal commitee resolution.
Categories & Prizes
There are different categories for the Award:
Regularly recurring events
Outstanding single events
Innovative special events
The Congress Award Graz is endowed with € 2.000,- per prize winner.
The winner gets the sum in full.
The awarding takes place at the invitation of major Mag. Siegfried Nagl at a ceremonial gala in Congress Graz or Fair Congress Graz. Informations about the winners are available here.
Filing & Apllication
The process starts with the filing. The application form is downloadable as a PDF down on this site.
Entitled to participate are all organisers who send in their files until closing date.
Selection process & Jury
In review of the last year five to seven members of jury come together in accordance with rectors of the four universities of Graz and other higher education institutions (University of Applied Sciences, Academy of Sciences, Teacher Training College, Executives Joanneum Research Association, direction department 3 – Science and Research of the office Graz- Styrian state government) and the cultural office.
The jury nominates winners from all applications in the different categories. Not every category has to have a winner. Initiators and members of jury can also nominate Congresses themselves.
